KPA MOMBASA TO NAIVASHA AND BACK TO MOMBASA.

The Kenya Ports Authority is a state corporation with the responsibility to maintain, operate, improve and regulate all scheduled seaports on the Indian Ocean coastline of Kenya. The port was formed in the year 1978 through an act of parliament with its chairman Michael Maina. The port has gone through some changes, one seeing its move from Mombasa to Naivasha by the directive of the former president of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta in the year 2019. The former president said that the move aimed at reducing congestion at the port of Mombasa citing that the transfer of the port to Naivasha was to easen the transportation of cargo to western Kenya and neighboring countries. Unfortunately the move came with certain disadvantages to the port of Mombasa and the residents of Mombasa by taking away job opportunities.
This move also affected the transportation cost by use of the SGR, for it was expensive compared to use of road transport. This move left the people of Mombasa sad and helpless but also waited for their time, this year which made them be filled with jubilation after the elected and current president of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto returned the port back to Mombasa. He issued the move so as a sign of respect to the people of Mombasa by not stealing their great wealth hence with an aim of creating job opportunities as he is aware of the lack of job opportunity issue in Mombasa. The return of the port of Mombasa will change the lives of Mombasa residents by giving them jobs so as to live life as they used to back in the days. Heko! Bwana president for the bold move as this will be a new start for the people of Mombasa and Kenya at large as progress is inevitable without change.
